Mixed-Signal & RF Integration Engineer

Bridge the optical and electrical halves of the system: high-speed driver and TIA design, 50-ohm interfaces, and the signal integrity work that decides whether the link closes at rate. This is the role where photonics meets microwave engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design high-speed analog front-ends: drivers, transimpedance amplifiers and limiting amplifiers.
  • Own signal integrity across package, interposer and board — insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk and jitter.
  • Build S-parameter models for photonic and electrical interconnect and feed them back into the link budget.
  • Characterise prototypes on a VNA, sampling scope and bit-error-rate tester.
  • Work with the DSP engineer on equalisation targets and eye-diagram closure.

WHAT WE NEED TO SEE

  • Solid grasp of transmission lines, matching and noise figure.
  • Hands-on experience with VNA, spectrum analyser or high-bandwidth scope measurements.
  • Ability to do the noise and link-budget arithmetic from first principles.

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Experience with wire-bond or flip-chip transitions above 25 Gb/s.
  • Familiarity with ADC/DAC interfaces and SerDes equalisation.
  • RFIC or MMIC design coursework at postgraduate level.
