DATA_POLICY

What we do with your details.

We ask engineers for real information — where they are, what they have built, what they expect to be paid. This page says plainly what happens to it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

EFFECTIVE 28 September 2026

The short version

We hold your profile so that an engineer can read it and decide whether it matches a search we are running. If it does, we ask you before we send it anywhere. If it does not, it sits on the roster until you tell us to remove it, or until the retention window above closes. We do not sell it, license it, or hand a venture a bulk list of candidates.

What this site currently transmits

Nothing. The intake form is a static page with no backend attached: it validates what you type, shows you a summary, and the values never leave your browser. That is the state of this build, and it is enforced by the site being a static export with no server routes.

When the form is connected to a real endpoint, the fields below are what will be sent — no more than that, and nothing collected silently in the background.

What we ask for

  • Name and email. So a person can read your profile and reply to you.
  • Location, and your institution or employer. Roles have real constraints — time zones, site access, notice periods — and these are how we avoid wasting your time.
  • Primary domain and tooling. The technical fields that decide whether a search matches you at all.
  • Arrangement and availability. Whether you are looking now, and in what shape.
  • Target remuneration. A range, not a figure. We ask because a placement built on a number nobody said out loud fails later, and because mapping this market honestly is part of why the roster exists.
  • Links you choose to give us. Layout, code, papers, a portfolio. Anything you put here is something you have decided to show us.

What we do not ask for

We do not ask for your date of birth, your national identification number, your bank details, your current salary, a photograph, or your gender or ethnicity. We do not ask you to upload a document. If a form on a site claiming to be us asks for any of these, it is not us.

Who sees it

Inside Referents, the people doing the technical review. Outside it, only a venture you have agreed to be introduced to — and we ask you before each introduction, not once at signup. The written technical summary we send a venture is the same document you see, so you are never described in terms you have not read.

We do not give ventures access to the roster itself. They receive the candidates they are introduced to, and nothing else.

How long we keep it

24 months from our last contact with you. After that we either ask you whether you want to stay on the roster, or remove the profile. A stale profile is worse than no profile — it gets you contacted about work you stopped wanting two years ago.

Changing or deleting it

Email talent@referents.com and tell us what to change or remove. You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely, and you do not have to explain why. Deletion means the profile goes; it does not retroactively unsend an introduction you already agreed to.

Tracking

This site runs no analytics, sets no advertising cookies, and embeds no third-party trackers. Whatever host serves the files will keep its own request logs, as every web server does.

Changes to this policy

If what we do with your data changes, this page changes with it and the effective date at the top moves. If the change is material and we hold your details, we will tell you directly rather than rely on you re-reading this page.
